Our success story
The container team of our customer (IT system house, 1400 MA) has to manage over 1100 SAP servers. They developed the concept of SAP Configuration Cockpit to configure profile parameters and other SLD-based values in the multi-tier landscape. The concept was developed within a brainstorming session using mind maps. There was no product on the market and SAP had no plans to develop such a tool.
The container team worked with the customer to give the idea a structured form. Together with our customer, we developed ideas to add functionality to the SAP Configuration Cockpit and make it easier to use. The high-level design and technical documentation was implemented by wescaleIT. The development of the cockpit took 3 months to complete. The customer installed the application in more than 20 system landscapes, making it interoperable and harmonized.
Meanwhile, mass changes are planned and executed by the cockpit on more than 700 instances. Since then, overlapping routine projects have been running for an average of only two days instead of 2.5 weeks. The customer manages the runtime parameters for 700 instances in a central location. The simplification of administration for the administrators is thus obvious.
